Added footsteps, music, and ambience sounds
This is my Unreal Engine Fundamentals course project. I've been using Unreal Engine for 7 years and still had a lot of insights takin this course. I really updated what I already knew and homed in on what I did not know about understanding the game engine and all of its capabilities.
In this course you do an overview of all of the areas of the Unreal Engine and learn the various tools to help you build and prototype a level. I'm a UX/UI design and really love building worlds. I now know what it takes to build a level properly and can have a discussion with a level designer and understand what is needed. Also, if I need to build something on my own to demo my interface, I now can do so because the Unreal Engine does make it easy for anyone to put together something pretty easily.
My concept is based on "Survival" games like Green Hell, Don't Stave, & Flame and the Flood. For now, the environment is more on the realistic side but would love it if it had a more painterly feel later on. I took inspiration from the Grand Canyon for the landscape. It's late spring, the snow is melting, and ground has a mix of red rocks, dirt, grass, and snow. I used mostly pine trees and bushes to add to the environment. Added a lake and simple cabin to give the feel of the great outdoors. This being a first pass is not too bad and is a great way to concept out an environment to show others your game ideas.
